The Duck River Garden Company is proud to offer community classes designed for everyone – and yes, that includes those who couldn't grow a weed in a manure pile! For our younger growers, we emphasize learning within a safe, age-appropriate space. Each club holds a monthly garden club meeting, and parent involvement is encouraged! Community enrichment is one of our main goals here, and to achieve that, we need to face some hard truths: everyone deserves fresh food. However, "in Columbia, TN, about 44% of households struggle to afford the basic cost of living," as reported by United For ALICE. While 14.2% live below the federal poverty line, an additional 30% are classified as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), meaning they earn too much for assistance but not enough to comfortably cover basic monthly expenses." This is unacceptable, so we've decided to do something about it – sliding scales. All services, classes, clubs, and products will be available at a reduced rate, even free – that's how dedicated we are to you.
